Inspiration

This song came out of a time of blackness when I doubted whether God really knew what was best for me, or even whether He existed at all.  Looking back, I can now see that He was doing necessary but painful work in me.

We all experience times when it seems that God is far away and can’t possibly know or care about what is going on in our lives.  The truth is that these are the moments that God uses to grow us into the people He created us to be.  He is a God of infinite care and mercy. He never gives up on us and He never stops loving us.
 
The chorus came several months before the verses and I was quite surprised at how the song formed- as a dialogue with Jesus.  It’s a journey from doubt to faith and darkness into light.  Unfortunately it’s a journey we all have to make, probably more than once!
